Ernest Vogel was born in Vienna, Austria in 1909 and arrived to Australia in 1913. He studied at the Prahran Technical School, Melbourne under Carl Hampel. He is a traditional painter of landscapes in oil, watercolor, pastel as well as designer. He became known for his relief decorations and designed the interior of the Regent Theatre, Melbourne. His work is represented at several Australian museums and galleries.
