This impressive set of doors dates to the 1800s and originated as the outermost entrance gate to a traditional courtyard home in north eastern China.

This magnificent vintage Chinese door pair was retrieved from Shandong Province in Eastern China and still has its original iron hardware and pegs. This massive door was used as the gate door to the court yard of a large household. Stunning iron work.

This antique Chinese iron gate door pair, made of elm wood, Qin Dynasty style. There are “Pu Shou” (Chinese Name) on this pair of beautiful doors. Pu Shou consists of an animal face with a ring its in mouth. It originated from people’s worship of animals in prehistoric age. In Han Dynasty, Pu Shou was a common decoration in temples to get rid of evils. Later on, the folks used it on their doors hoping all kinds of animals will protect their houses. Pu Shou decorated on doors indicates that it can protect your home and family. The door has a unique iron backplate, bolt and handles, in a moody dark color, in excellent condition. Bands of studded iron reinforce the fronts and iron plates secure the door latch and round door pulls. The iron details have aged beautifully over the years, with a richly textured patina and light oxidation.
